The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) identifies occupations which are in current or long-term shortages in Australia. The SOL is used for Skilled Migration program to attract migrants with relevant skills, qualifications and work experience to help to fill skills shortages in Australia. The list is assessed and annually reviewed by the Australian Department of Education and Training. The assessment is based on several factors such as time taken to develop necessary skills, short, medium and long terms skills shortages, local economy, job market and/or surplus of skilled workers in a given occupation.
