Temporary Shortage Skills Visa (TSS) legislation finally introduced

The long – awaited legislation introducing the Temporary Shortage Skills (TSS) Visa, Subclass 482 was released last night in addition to amendments to the 186 Employer Nomination Scheme and 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme. The new legislation along with transitional arrangements are coming in force on 18th March 2018 replacing the 457 Employer Sponsored Visa with the new TSS Visa. The Regulations amend the existing and introduce new requirements in relation to the 482 Sponsorship, Nomination and Visa applications. Transitional arrangements will apply to current 457 Employer Sponsorship and Visa holders. Additional criteria are introduced to the 186 and 187 Visa subclasses in addition to amendments to existing legislation. A new policy and interpretation in relation to Visa Subclasses TSS Visa 482, 186 and 187 is expected to follow in due course.
