Want less stress? Regional Australia is the way to go.

Australian Regional Emigration

The Australian Government is looking at initiatives to support regional workforce and population growth in smaller communities and ease strain on infrastructure in metropolitan areas.

Many of Australia’s regional areas are experiencing skills shortages and population decline. The Australian Government is keen to give the Regional areas more of a chance to attract Skilled Migrants. With this in mind there has been an expansion of the types of skills that can be sponsored under the expanded regional framework.  The Regional State Governments are expanding their lists of local skills shortages by adding additional occupations such as Agricultural Scientist, Audiologists, Nurses, IT professionals.  There are also of course the more traditional Skilled Occupations in demand such as Welders, Air conditioning mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, diesel mechanics, fitters, painters and Decorators and most other trades. Intending migrants with relevant skills and occupations in demand in regional areas could apply for the 489 Skilled Migrant (State Sponsored) Visa. This Visa may be an option for those who struggle to meet high points required for the Independent Visa.

The Skilled Migrant (State Sponsored) Visa lasts for 4 years. Holders of the Visa must live, work and study in a regional area of Australia. After two years of living and one year of working in the region, you can apply for Permanent Residency visa (and this visa will not be points tested).

Many have reservations when presented with a Visa option to move to a “Regional” are. Just because the word “Regional” is used it does not mean that you are in the middle of nowhere. The Regional Areas take in many larger cities within the States including State and Territory capitals including Adelaide, Hobart, Mandurah, Esperance  and other larger regional areas such as Cairns, Mackay, Armidale, Wagga, Fremantle, Shepperton and Wangaratta.
