If you have received a job offer from an Australian employer, you may be eligible for an Employer-Sponsored Visa.

Employer-sponsored migration can be one of the fastest pathways to living and working in Australia, but the eligibility requirements can be complex. Employer-Sponsored Visa Options

Australia offers several employer-sponsored visa pathways depending on your occupation, work experience and long-term migration goals.

Our migration agents can advise on applications including:

  • Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482)
  • Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)
  • Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Subclass 494)
  • Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa (Subclass 400)

We will assess your circumstances and recommend the most suitable visa pathway for you.

Who Can Apply?

Employer-sponsored visas are generally available to skilled workers who have secured employment with an eligible Australian employer.

Depending on the visa subclass, applicants may need to:

  • have a genuine job offer from an approved Australian employer
  • work in an eligible occupation
  • possess the required qualifications and work experience
  • satisfy English language requirements (where applicable)
  • meet health and character requirements
  • satisfy any relevant skills assessment requirements.

Each visa subclass has different eligibility criteria, and some occupations are subject to additional requirements or exemptions.

Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482)

The Skills in Demand Visa allows Australian employers to sponsor suitably qualified overseas workers where they are unable to fill positions locally.

Depending on the circumstances, this visa may provide a pathway to permanent residence.

Applicants may also be able to include eligible family members in their application, allowing them to live, work and study in Australia.

Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186)

The Employer Nomination Scheme Visa provides eligible skilled workers with a pathway to Australian permanent residence.

This visa is available through different streams depending on an applicant's circumstances, employment history and sponsorship arrangements.

Our migration agents can assess your eligibility and advise on the most appropriate pathway.

Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Subclass 494)

The Subclass 494 visa enables regional Australian employers to sponsor skilled workers for positions in designated regional areas.

Eligible visa holders may later qualify for permanent residence if they continue to meet the legislative requirements.

Regional Australia offers excellent employment opportunities across a wide range of industries, particularly in healthcare, engineering, construction, hospitality, education, agriculture and skilled trades.

Temporary Work Visa (Subclass 400)

The Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) Visa is designed for applicants travelling to Australia to undertake highly specialised, short-term work or participate in specific activities.

This visa is commonly used where specialised knowledge or expertise is required for a limited period.

How We Can Help

Employer-sponsored visas often involve two separate processes:

  • employer sponsorship and nomination
  • the employee's visa application.

Our experienced migration agents assist both employers and visa applicants by:

  • assessing eligibility
  • advising on the most appropriate visa pathway
  • preparing sponsorship and nomination applications
  • assisting with skills assessments where required
  • preparing visa applications
  • liaising with the Department of Home Affairs
  • managing applications until a decision is made.

Whether you are an employer looking to recruit overseas talent or a skilled worker seeking sponsorship, we provide practical advice and professional support throughout the process.

Finding Sponsorship Opportunities

If you have not yet secured an Australian employer, we can provide guidance on preparing your migration strategy.

A successful job search should include:

  • tailoring your CV to Australian standards
  • preparing targeted cover letters
  • researching industries experiencing skills shortages
  • understanding Australian employment practices
  • identifying employers who sponsor overseas workers
  • exploring regional employment opportunities where sponsorship demand is often higher.

Although we do not provide recruitment services, we can advise you on visa pathways and sponsorship requirements while you search for suitable employment. For practical tips, read our guide on how to find an Australian employer sponsor.
