Partner/Spouse Australian visa update

Processing times:
Due to an increasing number of applications, offshore De-Facto Partner/Spouse/ Prospective Marriage Visa applications are likely to take on average 10-14 months to process (European Area).

Applications lodged onshore are likely to take 18 months to finalise.

Processing times vary depending on personal circumstances, complexity of the case as well as number of applications lodged and of available visa places.

Sponsor police check requirement:
All sponsors for Partner applications lodged on or after 18 November 2016 must provide evidence of character as part of Australian commitment to reduce violence in the Australian community. Sponsors are expected to give permission to the department to disclose any or all of their convictions to visa applicant/s.
