SkillSelect – January 2020 Invitation Round Results Announced
Following the SkillSelect invitation round on 10th January 2020, 1,300 Skilled Migrants applicants received invitation to apply for the Australian Visa under the Skilled Migration Program (189/491 Visa).
A total of 1,000 applicants were invited to apply for the Australian Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189) and 300 were invited to apply for the Skilled Regional (subclass 491 – Family sponsored) Visa.
Prospective applicants required at least 90 points to be selected. This is a slight decrease in points from 95 required in the December 2019 selection round. In addition, 850 more applicants were selected in the January round comparing to the December round results, which seems to suggest that the Department is aiming to reach their yearly Migration quota by July.
The pro-rata occupations have also observed a drop in points, with Accountants requiring 95 points and most Engineering Professionals, IT specialists needing 90 points to be selected.
Those unable to score high points are encouraged to consider applying for the Skilled Migrant Regional Visa as the best option leading to securing Australian residency in the future.
