The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection becomes the Department of Home Affairs.

The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIPB) has been integrated into the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The other agencies that have been transitioned include the Australian Border Force, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre. The new formed Department integrates Australia’s federal law enforcement, national and transport security, criminal justice, emergency management, multicultural affairs and immigration and border-related functions and agencies. The Department will focus on the development and execution of strategy, policy and coordination as well as the programmatic functions it will undertake in support of other agencies. The Department of Home Affairs will continue to deliver the full spectrum of visa and citizenship services previously undertaken by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
