The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMAC) has recently advised that applicants looking into skills assessment for migration purposes required to be registered or to be eligible to register as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). In practice this means that anyone with nursing qualifications below a Degree level is unlikely to pass the Skilled Migration Assessment which is a mandatory component of a Skilled Migrant Visa. We recommend all Diploma qualified nurses to upgrade their qualifications or to complete a nursing bridging course in order to register with AHPRA.
