The Government of South Australia is adding 70 occupations to the State list allowing applicants residing outside Australia to apply for State nomination.
Until recently, a majority of occupations listed on the SA State list were reserved to those currently living and working in South Australia.
The move appears to suggest a slow progress to Australia re-opening the Skilled Migration program to allow filling skills shortages caused by the pandemic and closure of international borders.
Applicants wishing to apply for State nomination must submit a Registration of Interest. Successful candidates will be issued with an invitation to apply for nomination.
Applicants must meet a number of criteria including at least 8 years of work experience in the nominated or closely related occupation and a proficient level of English language.
A State Government nomination allows prospective migrants to apply for the 190 Skilled Migrant Permanent Residency visa or the 491 Skilled Migrant Provisional 5 year visa (leading to residency after 3 years).
Applications open on 28th September 2021.
